Year 6
Our class
Welcome to Y6. We have a class consisting of 15 pupils, who are taught by Mrs Rebello and Mrs Groves. Our teaching assistants Mrs Birrell, Miss Fisher and Mrs Preston also work to support Year 6 pupils every step of the way. We are an ambitious, creative and considerate class who take pride in the wonderful work we produce.
Pupils in Y6 each have duties to carry out around school and act as responsible role models. Head Girl: Poppy and Head Boy: Corbin work alongside 2 committed deputies that were selected to support, work with and help care for the pupils in the Cambridge family.
Curriculum
At Cambridge Primary School, we pride ourselves on ensuring a child-centered approach to provide creative, engaging and meaningful learning opportunities, which stay with pupils throughout their childhood and beyond.
In Year 6, these learning opportunities are driven by a range of class books such as: Room 13, The Invention of Hugo Cabret and Macbeth, as well as planned visits and our three termly topics: Amazing Africa, Cultures & Cuisines and The Beginning of Time. Within these topics, pupils further develop skills in Geography, Art, Computing, History, Design & Technology and Music.
English and Maths are taught using a personalised approach which supports progression for every pupil. Pupils are both supported and challenged continuously in their learning and structures are in place to help guide children towards their national SATs tests in May. Our wonderful outdoor grounds are used frequently by Year 6, where we work in the wildlife area and help to look after our gardening spaces.
